On Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23, 2026, the 56th Echizen Asakura Sengoku Festival and the 23rd Echizen Asakura Mantouya will be held together at the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins. This year also marks the 55th anniversary of the site’s designation as a Special Historic Site and the 35th anniversary of its designation as a Place of Scenic Beauty.

The Sengoku Festival runs on both days
The Echizen Asakura Sengoku Festival is held on both Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23.
On Sunday, August 23, the day opens with a memorial service for the five Asakura lords, followed by the spirited departure ceremony of the Sengoku warrior procession, a matchlock gun demonstration, the Ichijodani Song Festival (Yutaka Oe, Kanta Ichijo, Eiji Kurokawa) and kenshibu sword dance. As dusk falls, the day flows straight into the lights of Mantouya, so you can enjoy the ruins from afternoon into the night.
