Trains and buses to Ichijodani do not run very often. Standing at a stop, you may well have wondered when the next bus was due, or whether you had just missed it.
To help with getting around on the day, we have added two new pages to this site.
At the stop: Departures
Departures tells you what is coming next from each boarding point.
Choose a stop and you will see the next three services for each destination, along with how many minutes until each one. Press “Find my nearest stop” and the page switches to whichever stop is closest to you. Your location is used only on your own device and is never sent anywhere.
Five services are covered: the shuttle bus, the Karamon-go, Keifuku Bus route 62, the Asakura-Eiheiji Direct Bus and the JR Etsumi-Hoku Line. You can choose from five boarding points: Fukui Station, Fukugen Machinami (the venue), the Asakura Museum, Asakura Mizu-no-Eki and Ichijodani Station.
Destinations whose services have finished for the day are listed together with the time of the last departure, so you can see straight away whether you have missed it.
Follow them on the Live Map
On the Live Map, buses and trains move across the map.
They follow the roads and railway tracks and move every second, so you can see at a glance roughly where each one is. Press a vehicle and its stops and times appear. You can also move the clock to another time of day, which means you can see how everything runs before the festival begins.
Keifuku Bus positions are the real thing
For Keifuku Bus route 62 and the Asakura-Eiheiji Direct Bus, we show the actual position of each vehicle, not an estimate from the timetable. If a bus is running late, the delay is shown, along with a rough guide to how busy it is.

The Karamon-go around the venue
The Karamon-go, which circles the venue, appears on the map as well.
From the evening of each festival day it runs on demand and no timetable is published, so we show only roughly where it is, without any times. In the evening it continues past Fukugen Machinami to the No. 4 car park, so it appears there on the map too.
Bus timetables are now on the site
Until now we simply asked you to check the Keifuku Bus timetable yourself. We have now added a bus timetable page, showing four key stops – Fukui Station, Togo, the Asakura Museum and Fukugen Machinami – so that it is easy to read.

On all of these pages, times are taken from the published timetables and are a guide only. Services may be delayed depending on traffic, and the routes drawn on the map follow roads and railway tracks, so they may differ from the actual service routes. Please also check each operator for the latest information before you travel.
We recommend coming by train or bus
The area around the venue gets very busy and parking spaces are limited. Coming by shuttle bus, train or route bus lets you avoid the traffic, and we would be grateful if you would consider it. By train, the nearest station is Ichijodani on the JR Etsumi-Hoku Line (Ichijodani Station timetable).
